Summer has passed quickly and most of my scarce free time has been spent gardening. My camera has a dead battery from disuse and my watercolor kit is untouched. There is still a little time but Labor Day weekend is here… This tiny tropical waterlily has been my great joy this summer! #gardening

My garden sensibility is excessive by nature- I love the lush tangle of colors and textures. I am largely working in containers but there are some advantages to this. I need to pare it back for both better plant management and for the sake of economy, but I love cottage-style abundance. Last year.

Things I miss from summer- colorful exotic flowers. I garden in 6b. Horrible heavy clay soil has driven me to mostly working in containers, and animal “pests” limit my selections, but I try for variety, color and visual harmonies. #gardening #photography #macrophotography

I’m going to start posting some photos to introduce myself. I particularly love photographing the flowers in my garden (zone 6b). This is a double petaled peach color brugmansia- kind of a compact variety. I cut them back to overwinter in my basement.
