Researchers from the Lydia Becker Institute at the British Science Week Science Fair at Manchester Museum on the 11th March 2025
Our final day at @britsciassoc.bsky.social Science Fair at Manchester Museum is now complete!
We had a very busy stand and it was fantastic to have so many great conversations with students interested in immunology and studying biology at A-Level.
๐A BIG thank you to all of our amazing volunteers!

Nicely introduced @becky-dodd.bsky.social! New lab pre-print ๐ explores a new approach of bringing ECM analysis into high-dimensional spatial datasets in the context of lung allergic pathology....cell-cell communication is important but don't forget the ECM! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Ecoimmunology. Fundamental discovery lab-based immunology typically focuses on defined model systemsโ(in vitro or in vivo models such as mice or ex vivo tissues) to understand immune programming in the context of biological processes, health, and disease. In contrast, disease ecology focuses on the role of the environment and considers population dynamics and individual variation. Whilst there is some limited overlap in disciplines, the area of ecoimmunology aims to bridge these gaps and takes a more holistic approach to understanding what shapes the immune system and thereby health.
Delighted to share our latest in @discovimmunol.bsky.social with @kathelse.bsky.social Holly Shiels, Iris Mair & Susanne Shultz. Climate change, pollution and changing land use impact immune function, driving chronic inflammatory disease and create exposure to infections (new & old). ๐งช #Immunosky
