So we kill way too many, and all of those have to go thru a local shelter for intake, sheltering hold (to make sure no claims the pet as lost) and then kill em anyway. We pay for all that with local taxes and then kill them. It's so stupid and heartbreaking.

Hi Danny! I don't agree with the "bad ppl" dig, but I have worked in animal rescue and it is emotionally devastating. I think the comment comes from that person wanting everyone to understand the overwhelming problem. Doesn't mean it's the right choice for you tho. Nothing wrong w your choice.
