It's archive cleaning day. I save all of my players ttrpg character sheets (if they don't want them) as well as my own.

It's not hoarding if there's proper documentation and organization.

I don't know how to return to imagining.

I ended up scrapping it because it felt... wrong. Like the only way to prevent exploitation in digital spaces was to make analogy to a *different* exploitative system that has at least SOME regulation. But the real imaginative possibilities of technology feel dead. Poisoned.

That optimism felt like it was everywhere when I was growing up. And I was a big believer. Now? I got half way writing a paper about how digital ownership needs something in the way of an overhaul, same as we overhauled tenants rights by giving landlords bare minimum obligations.

I took a class on "internet law" - the intersection of digital contracts, IP, and the legal system. The first class of the course involved reading so much gushing of the early internet and what it could mean for giving people access to resources on a level never before imagined.

It's not just "stand up to ICE when you see them," it's building many vast networks of support and trust to
- create safe spaces
- protect schools
- get kids TO school
- check on neighbors
- deliver groceries
- help pay the rent
- let people know of danger
- feed the helpers, too!
- and on and on

Law school does not prepare you for the audio processing hell that is being in 3 zoom court rooms at once.

Something I'm trying this year is taking physical notes for my games which has evolved into ttrpg scrapbooking. These are the npc relationship pages from my Shadow of the Wolf Lancer game.

NEW: A Texas county medical examiner found that Geraldo Lunas Campos was choked to death by a guard while he was held in ICE custody earlier this month.

Geraldo is the sixth person to die in ICE detention this year.

I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...

Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.

Even Hobbes, the most notoriously pro authoritarian government philosopher in history, who thought you had to obey even the worst government because it was better than no government, said that if your government just starts killing you, you don't have a social contact.

You don't have a government.

Fixing your heart is, for us born into our arsenal of privilege in the world's most empire, both a lifelong undertaking requiring discipline, patience, perspective, and good teachers, and a necessary first step toward reclaiming your self.

It's our essential duty and our most precious opportunity.
