I remember reading about these last year and seeing diagrams, but I've not seen any photos. Incredible stuff! Is this one preserved or a recreation?

Oh, excellent question! A lot to choose from, but I think the introduction of the Hydronauts (the fellas in the old diving suits) is a favourite of mine. Here's the pages of them meeting Edmund, one of Oscar's (living) human friends. Really fun designs, and I adore the final two panels.

Huge shout out to Tri Vuong's excellent 'Strange Tales of Oscar Zahn', vol 1 of which I picked up at Fan Expo Canada. A beautifully illustrated collection of tales about supernatual detective Oscar Zahn (a floating skull in a coat). Whimsical, disturbing, funny and sincere. 5*

Placeholder This is not a poem. It's a placeholder. My words are not playing nice in my head right now. So I write to not stop writing and just give up, but as you can see here, this is not a poem. Too much is happening and today is hiding me from my thoughts about: Poems as an outlet; A joy famished lost soul; The burden to create; obscurity in voice; Those would all be poems. And this isn't a poem... It's a placeholder.

"You can plug in there," I said.

I suppose I'd misunderstood, as it just continued to swipe, searching for its #outlet.

Hah, I'm honoured!

It's actually partly inspired by a (currently shelved) novel idea I was working on for a while. A world where the afterlife was a series of businesses trading in human souls. Angels in that setting had a veneer of superiority, but could be as cruel and selfish as everyone else.

"So a #ghoul has been manipulating humanity by masquerading as an archangel? Shouldn't be too hard to expose him. How angelic can he be?"

"Exposing him isn't the hard part."

"Then what is?"

"Finding out which of the #angels knew the whole time and did nothing to stop him."

Love it! I thought I knew where it was going because I immediately clocked onto the heist angle, but you got me with that ending!

On the #trail of a gang of #savants. One studied locking mechanisms, another vehicle dynamics. One had a PhD in computer technology, while another had written a book on confidence schemes. When I told them all about my heist plan, those nerds called the cops.
