And leaving me to break the news to her. I can’t believe we’re going to be in limbo for a month. I expect her to refuse treatment, but palliative/hospice care would be nice. Somebody should care, right? Sorry for rambling. I’m exhausted from caring for her “pneumonia” for a month, & heartbroken.

My previously healthy 90-y-old mom diagnosed with pneumonia a month ago. Had her 3-week repeat scan Thurs, on Fri night her MyChart reported she has extensive metastases in lungs. Not diagnosed with cancer before this, don’t know where the original cancer was. Her doctors won’t see her before Feb 25

I am in the process of closing down my Twitter account, as is nearly everyone I know. It will likely be Elon’s echo chamber, not the original version of Twitter. We have to make new spaces, not simply try to recreate old ones

I entirely agree. I have seen posts by people happily announcing a pregnancy and being jumped on for daring to be joyful when genocide is happening. It’s crazy out there. You don’t have to explain yourself to the people who have been your messages for years. Stay safe.

Good luck! My POTS was diagnosed by a neurologist in conjunction with a cardiologist. My then-GP was worthless and literally told me that dysautonomia is very rare and I wasn’t “special enough” to have it. What!?! Hope your appt goes well, but if it doesn’t, don’t be discouraged.

I went to grad school at U of T and really wanted to stay. Love that city so much. When the MAGA folks make life here scary, I fantasize about moving back. So heartbreaking to see the incompetent faction ruining everything.

Had to confront my personal phobia yesterday…then try to defend it while everyone else laughed. Ferrets. Seriously, rat+snake=ferret.

Yeah, I take only baths these days. Long hair is easier for me to maintain.

Calm distraction is the only thing that allows me function in a bad time. I put in my earbuds and listen to low volume music or a podcast. It gives my brain a task so I don’t focus so hard on my pain and fatigue.

If I overheat, I’m down for at least 2 days. I’ve had this for many years. I wish I had made my POTS known to my work colleagues, friends and extended family sooner. It’s so much easier when I don’t have to expend energy trying to hide my symptoms.

I learned to ask for 2 chairs—one for my butt & one for my feet. I have bad temperature regulation —I avoid going outdoors too long in summer and have super-warm clothes for winter. I avoid large meals & just eat tiny bits at a time. I say “I feel POTSy” as shorthand to express my need to chill.
