I've just checked, me and millions of others are stuffed. My house in Sydney is 31m above sea level and the one I'm moving to in Melbourne is 5m ASL.

My summer in Norway left me sad to be Australian In the month I spend there, I learn that Norway is a country where the perks of clever policy abound. But it’s who pays for these perks that is so exasperating.

This explains why we can’t have nice things in Australia. www.smh.com.au/environment/...

Chart showing the the unemployment rate is now the highest it has been since the end of 2021

The latest unemployment figures show the RBA has utterly failed its role of maintaining full employment.

Australian road fatalities have hit a 15-year high, but why? Australia has just endured its β€œdeadliest 12 months on the road since 2010, with 1337 deaths, up 4.8 per cent from a year earlier.”

Australia's latest fatality data shows a year-on-year increase of 4.8 per cent to 1337 deaths to the end of May this year.....largely attributed to the increase in deaths of cyclists (up 36.7% to 41 deaths) and pedestrians (up 15.7% to 192 deaths). www.drive.com.au/news/cyclist...

Back in the day, there was even the Subaru Brumby ute. There is one that parks nearby here and I see it occasionally - it looks tiny these days.

They may be practical, but in an old person's "I remember when" moment, I remember when utes were based on the standard GMH and Ford sedans and even the 'standard' sized ones seem huge to me now. And, yes, the RAM style ones are outrageously huge and should be banished forever.

It’s large utes and SUVs, per se, that I object to regardless of power plant. It’s strikes me that such vehicles are unnecessarily large and, in most cases, my guess is that their functions could be achieved with a smaller vehicle.

Transport NSW must find a way to clean the cycle lane as the separated lanes just fill up with leaves and other debris.

Bridge Road Cycleway, Glebe Bridge Road is a key strategic bike riding route linking the Inner West to the City. Transport for NSW will deliver an upgraded and permanent cycleway on Bridge Road and plans to start work in early 2...

Good news as the semi-temporary-permanent barrier thingy that has been there since the Covid pandemic is constantly being bumped by cars and then it partially blocks the cycle lane. www.transport.nsw.gov.au/projects/cur...

I'm so happy that Americans are getting what they voted for. (Not so happy that it will negatively affect the rest of us here in the real world, but we might be able to go our own way sans the US).

Trump is better: arm and support Israel and tank the American ecomony as that way pretty soon the US won't be able to afford to supply arms to anyone.

I just had a chat with the Amazon helpdesk peeps to tell them that I won't be renewing my Amazon Prime membership nor will I be ordering anything from Amazon or Kindle in protest at Trump's tariffs. They asked, so that is because of 'the recent changes in America's trade policy?' I said, yes.
