I watched Wildcat this week and thoroughly enjoyed it! It inspired me to download "A Good Man Is Hard to Find" on my library app. My last book club read way too much mid century fiction, without including women writers in the literary canon.

I just finished rereading one of my favorite books, "Every Man Dies Alone." Written in 1945, it depicts the lives of ordinary Germans under Nazi rule. There are a wide variety of characters, from petty criminals and Gestapo to regular citizens. But the focus is a real life married couple who resist.

Criterion movie recommendation: All Night Long, a retelling of Othello from 1962. Featuring: TWO interracial relationships that no one bats an eye at! Richard Attenborough! Reefer smoking! A baddie who also played a baddie in TWO episodes of Columbo! Performances by Dave Brubeck and Charlie Mingus!

It has been over a week and I guess I am not going to bother to watch the 2nd episode of American Primevil. It wasn't bad, but not that interesting either. People online have been suggesting Godless, but if you want a modern western The English is much better.

I would watch the hell out of a Little House series that also incorporated the Pioneer Girl autobiography that came out a few years ago and contradicted a lot of Rose Wilder's rosy colored bootstraps view of her mom's life.

‘Little House on the Prairie’ Reboot Set at Netflix Netflix has greenlit a new TV adaptation of "Little House on the Prairie," the beloved book series written by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

I have mixed feelings about this TBH. Growing up, I loved the Little House books but hated the show. By the time my daughter got into chapter books, I had discovered the Birchbark House series and read those with her instead. variety.com/2025/tv/news...

Watching The Beast and Lost Highway in the same weekend was an interesting experience! Both depict being in love as irresistable, irrational, and dangerous. Both had creepy video surveillance. The Beast has more of a message, incorporating AI and what it means to be human.

I had nightmare in which my tween daughter (who in dreams is often also my younger sister at the same age) has gone missing from a mall. When I woke up I realized that my library card is missing IRL. Already it is a nail-biter of a day.

One of my goals this year is to attend more live performances. Our budget makes this difficult, but this week I managed two! #PinkMartini at the #BrowardCenter and a joint concert from #ChoirNextDoor and #GCSF !

I felt the same! It was good but a bit too slow and quiet for me.

Hollywood gets a lot of grief for being too focused on money and scared of innovation and risk but consider that this extraordinary weirdo got to make movies and TV for decades just because people with money and power in that industry loved him and what he did and wanted to help him.

All of the above except theater distance. I will also add unnecessarily large seats. Movies are best experienced shoulder to shoulder with the person you came with, not in a pleather isolation chamber.
