This is so necessary. I vaguely recall that the Obama volunteer machine got a rebranding after his 08 victory and was intended to keep Organizing For America (is that what it was called?) but if they had any further accomplishments they did not promote them effectively enough for me to find out.

I continue to believe there are good, non-crank, non-racist as hell reasons to want anti trust enforcement beyond what we’ve had for the last 50 years. I just wish there were “public intellectuals” or whatever willing to make that case. Because Stoller and his crew…woof

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

So, at a concert, clapping or occasionally whooping isn't a stim, its a context appropriate (depending on your culture) expression of emotion. if you whoop continuously for a long period of time, that would be a stim. Just doing the behavior or sound does not make it a stim

So. It sounds like you may be confused about what stimming actually IS? Stimming is a behavior that is repetitive and continuous for the purpose of self soothing or releasing excess energy. and that's not what you're describing here. (1/?)

I think it's got more to do with "what behaviors have we been punished for, to one extent or another" like yes it's normal, and also we're taught to suppress those behaviors around witnesses, but it can be harder to suppress when you're ND, and it becomes A Thing.

Most people would have phrased it as “something you enjoy doing”. Or “something you’re good at doing”. But Mr. Rogers’ subtly different phrasing leads to a profoundly different connotation. “Something you feel good about doing” may not be enjoyable–people who work in hospitals or in disaster zones might not enjoy much of their day, but they probably feel good about helping people. “Something you feel good about doing“ may not be something you’re particularly good at–you may be a terrible artist by any objective standard, but if you feel good about making your art, then it’s a worthwhile endeavor. Looking for “something you feel good about doing” can help you find a truly satisfying life path.

That phrase is also helpful with daily decision-making. Too often, I can make choices based on “what feels good.” I put aside tasks that are too stressful or avoid activities that seem too difficult, in favor of mindlessly browsing the internet. And I enjoy myself. I feel good while I’m doing that. But at the end of the day, I don’t feel good about how I spent my time. However, reminding myself to do “something I feel good about doing” can motivate me to accomplish those more difficult tasks. It can push me to do something outside of my comfort zone, to try something new that I might not be much good at. And maybe this is a blindingly obvious philosophy to everyone else. But I’m grateful for the reminder.
