No, no, no, no, and no.

All of these are skills that students should learn by doing, and for #4, they should use actual images (pictures or art appropriate to the topic) not MS TheftPaint.

In the Future All Food Will Be Cooked in a Microwave, and if You Canโ€™t Deal With That Then You Need to Get Out of theย Kitchen As a restaurant owner - I'm astounded at the rate of progress since microwaves were released a few short years ago. Today's microwave can cook a frozen burrito. Tomorrow's microwave will be able to cook an entire Thanksgiving Dinner. Ten years from now a microwave may even be able to run the country. Recently I was watching a livestream of a local microwave salesman.

Our craft summer has been really satisfying in this regard. I don't like to bake when it's hot, so making things becomes the creative outlet. And finding ways the crafts intermix is awesome! I used the vinyl cutter to cut button blanks from watercolor paper and am now painting buttons to press!

A yellow bellied slider turtle sits on top of a green floral blanket and a white comforter with a grey plaid pattern. His legs are splayed out in front of him and his claws curl over the edge of the comforter. He has his head held up and is looking directly at the camera with both eyes with a look that suggests a lack of brain activity.

Between the yappy chihuahua on the 2nd floor or the cats we're cat sitting on the 3rd floor that still are wary of petting after a full week, we've determined that the cuddliest animal in the house is our turtle, Kame-chan.

I've never understood people that are like "ugh, leg day." For me, every day is leg day! It's more like "ugh, I'm doing circuit training today instead of running."

I would like to be clear. My writing doesnโ€™t have em dashes because I use AI. AI uses em dashes because stunningly effective writers like me use them.

If you're using AI to write essays, eulogies, a text to your wife, I do think less of you as a person. Ceding your mental and creative abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and people should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.

looked up the clip just because sometimes people change his words for captions that end up innocently reshared, but upon finding it decided to share the video because hearing him say it makes it 1000% more definitely true and everyone will listen/believe more than reading it written out

Some AI evangelists are too young or too stupid to remember the dot-com bubble, and it shows.

Don't get drawn into offloading your human brain power. You'll be stained once the bubble bursts.

Deskilling is real.

This is the world generative AI peddlers long for, one where people are incompetent without their service.

Don't outsource your brain to this shit. You'll regret it.

That *is* unfortunate. I think it provides a great opportunity for students to apply to real life the skills of visual analysis that I teach them in class, like in my manga/anime course. Show them how visuals can communicate meaning, intentionally or otherwise.

Kinda sounds like the tower music from the original Myst game. But that may just be the fifth-interval both songs use, and that track isn't unique in using it that game. The Mechanical gate music is also built on a fifth.

Why Iโ€™m Banning Student AI Use This Year Chanea Bond will ban AI this year to give her high school English students the opportunity to develop foundational skills that she believes the tech can hinder.

Teacher @heymrsbond.com banned AI in her English classes last year. Weโ€™re about to post an update on how it wentโ€”so first, read last yearโ€™s article to understand why she adopted the policy. ๐Ÿ’ป

Took a little button making break today. We picked up some patterned paper at Michael's and then I cut a bunch of button patterns out of them. Very fun to make, and maybe Lizzy can sell them at work.

Which one is your favorite? Sorry for the fan reflection in the mylar.

I'm literally rereading Nguyen's Games: Agency as Art right now, and I don't think El Dumpo has ever had an experience of striving play in his life. No wonder his humanity is so broken: he has never experienced the art of actually playing a game. (or any art, for that matter)

Soooooo, rewritten, this headline is "Trump raises taxes by 15% on EU imports." Why do y'all have such a hard time with framing? Did... did they not teach that in journalism school? Seems like an oversight if not.

I do firmly believe that refusing to outsource your basic cognitive functions to LLMs right now - as so many are stumbling over themselves to do right now, like hogs trotting to a pile of slop thatโ€™s been set up inside of a butcherโ€™s delivery truck - will very much pay off in a few years.
