Building a database to look at all of these events has been a long time coming - it's been on my list forever, but I've had to develop new skills and carve out time that's not my day job, or my other job, or raising children - and if I tell you (or anyone!) about SQLite vs Postgres, you'll run away.

I'm working on collecting data from 100k emission events reports across Texas in order to better study their spatial and temporal characteristics, e.g. how much benzene are Houstonian exposed to vs. Austinites, or what have the biggest events been, or do refineries bury events on Friday nights.

I don't know if this helps at all, but I was on one of the first ships that responded to the tsunami in 2004. The galley focused on pumping out cookies as fast as possible: They were more shelf stable than hot meals, they were less likely to raise Halal issues, and they were simple.

I fight fire mostly in SFH, so I don't have a dog in the single-stair thing (as a fire fighter), but code and design have improved so much for multi-family - sprinklers, fire barriers, etc. It's not the war years.

Is there any room for meta-reporting? i.e. calling out passive/exonerative "tense" in reporting, reporting events based off police/government press releases, false "both sidesing" where there are the facts on one side and what the other side wishes was true? or is that wasted effort?
