The way you describe wolves howling in Mohawk, kontiwén:note, literally means they (konti) are standing (ote) the words (wenn) up. It is the same word for talking about a group of people speaking. #kanienkeha #linguistics #indigenous

A book review graphic for This Is Why They Hate Us by Aaron H. Aceves made by @dbg.was.here on Instagram. This is a young adult fiction and LGBTQ+ contemporary, 390 pages long and 10 hours in audiobook format. The featured quote is “Everything is a double entendre when you’re living a double life.” The summary reads: "Enrique, whose nickname is “Quique,” aims to get over falling in love with his crush, Saleem, by getting under someone else. But Quique isn’t entirely out as bisexual, and even his best friend doesn’t know about his mental health struggles. Quique has every reason to hide, but before long, he’ll spend his summer learning to be honest with his three prospects, both parents, his closest friends, and, most importantly, himself." My verdict: My soul was FED! Charming, soft, relatable.

The slide details a bulleted list of “what I loved,” which reads: “A beautiful exploration into bisexuality and mental health. Three flirty rebound prospects who felt like the teenage edition of the game Dream Daddy. “What a horrible weight it is to be silent when you want to shout, to hold back when you want to reach out, to freeze when you want to melt.” At the bottom, it reads: Did you have a different takeaway? What were your favorite parts? I’d love to know what you think. If you’re interested in constructive discussion on any of the books I’ve shared, meet me on Instagram.

The slide details a bulleted list of “what you’ll love,” which reads: “The dynamic and relatable Latin main character, whose mistakes help him learn, grow, and find his inner strength. Laugh-out-loud relationships paired with tender discussions that will validate your inner teenager. A final scene you’ll want to reread over and over because nothing has ever been so beautiful.” At the bottom, it reads: you check this out? What content inspires you to read? Quique was one of those characters I found myself rooting for from the start, so This Is Why They Hate Us by Aaron Aceves had me by the throat early on. (1/3)
