Celadon is a pale greyish shade of green, or rather a range of such shades. Celadon originates as a term for a class of Chinese ceramics, copied by Korea and Japan. However, the name, which is European, may originate from the character Celadon in L'Astrée, a French pastoral novel of 1627, who wore a light green color.
Celadon glazes were very common, with the green color being reliably produced from about the tenth century onwards; this was appreciated in Asia for resembling jade, the most prestigious material of all. The glaze color comes from iron oxide's transformation from ferric to ferrous iron (Fe2O3 → FeO) during the firing process, but is affected by a wide range of other factors and chemicals, making the precise color very difficult to control. As well as green, a wide range of browns, yellows, greys and sometimes blues all count as "celadon".

View of the top of one of the cores showing there's still some banding of the mica within the quartz and also some specs of a small black mineral that's probably biotite or hornblende

I couldn’t find mine before Smashing Pumpkins this past year and it sounded like I was listening through oatmeal. Told Husband it was a terrible concert - that the sound was dull. He said nope, great concert, great sound. Fortunately found them for Meshuggah.

You mean Meta ? - who whenever I report romance scammers using military or celebrity impersonations as fake & frauds, they tell me the account is okay & doesn’t violate their “community standards?” Who took a year to delete the account of a scammer who threatened to hunt me down & kill me? wtf?

A cartoon illustration showing the life cycle of our Solar System’s star. It has a timeline in estimated billions of years showing the progress. The Sun is represented by the life stages of a girl to woman. The head of each figure is how the Sun would appear.

Birth: stellar nebula (baby in purplish)
Protostar (young girl in pink)
We are here: Main Sequence Star (late teen/young woman dressed sorta hippy-ish in warm yellow/gold)
Red Giant (glamorous woman in an red evening gown)
Planetary Nebula (older woman in a dark blue bathrobe)
Death: White Dwarf (very old woman in a white dress and cane)

I’m excited about that moment to be honest. This is one of my favorite illustrations.

A single prickly poppy freshly bloomed in the morning sun. Likely from June.

From Wikipedia:

This poppy bears its flowers on erect, spiny stems which can exceed a meter in height. The blue-green or mint-green, lobed leaves are also very prickly. The white poppy blooms usually have six crinkly petals, each up to 4 centimeters long, and three sepals. The center of the flower is surrounded by a dense ring of up to 250 small yellow or orange stamens bearing the pollen with the dark pistil in the center.

Desert wildflowers have necessary defenses!

It is a Flatbud Prickly Poppy or Chicalote (Argemone munita). It is native to California, Baja California, Arizona & Nevada. ”Munita”≈ armed due to the long prickles. Native bees love it because there’s hundreds of pollen drenched stamens. Lovely in June.
