To all those who think Zohran Mamdani will force NYC to be Muslim: A Muslim has never knocked on my door trying to convince me to convert…

Just saying.

HOUSTON, TX – Workers at the House of Blues in Houston, Texas have voted to join the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 51. The November 3 election results revealed an overwhelming 95% of votes cast in favor of union representation, uniting a group of 42 employees who work across lighting, sound, video, carpentry, props, stage management, hospitality, freight, and backstage coordination.
House of Blues Houston is a 43,000-square-foot concert venue with multiple performance spaces and a maximum capacity of 2,100 guests. Owned by Live Nation, it is part of the House of Blues chain of venues, which includes eleven locations across the United States. By joining IATSE, the Houston crew becomes part of a growing number of Live Nation-operated venues where workers have organized in recent years, reflecting a nationwide movement of live event professionals coming together for fair treatment and respect on the job.
Workers reached out to Local 51in August 2025 to begin the process of formal union representation. In the months that followed, workers held regular meetings to discuss how they could build a safer, fairer, and more respectful workplace together. β€œWe came together to form a union because every worker deserves a safe, fair, and respectful workplace,” said crewmember David Allen. β€œOur goal is simple: to ensure that all employees have adequate working conditions free from favoritism, intimidation, and hostility. We believe that no one should have to choose between their safety and their livelihood.”

If Starbucks baristas have to strike, we’re striking too β€” with our wallets.

Don’t shop at Starbucks if baristas are on strike. No contract, no coffee. Period. #NoContractNoCoffee

The scene where he's in the bottle and the otherworldly choir is singing the poem on the statue of liberty like its Catholic liturgical music makes me burst into tears every time.

When I lived there in 2012 I used to walk alone at 3am in Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. As a person seen as female most of the time! Nobody ever jumped me. I was more afraid of *cops* jumping me than regular joes tbqfh.

this is interesting. i strongly prefer for someone to assume my pronouns. i also think there is assumption that pronouns and gender are same thing when one is what you prefer to be called and one is what you actually are. in other words it is okay to want to be called the technically β€˜wrong’ thing

Mamdani said he'd make the bus free bc he knew people wouldn't be able to wrap their heads around making the subway free. πŸ˜† But I bet he's gonna do that after he proves free buses work! πŸš†

Thank you to all of the homeless and unemployed neighbours that #voted in support of their own and their neighbours' best interests. Thank you so much. You are never acknowledged and I want to thank you. You do so much and I see you. Voting is your right and civic duty too.

As many have pointed out, Mamdani didn't stand apart from our trans brothers and sisters. He didn't play the "Gee, gosh, it sure is complicated," milquetoast moderate card. And he crushed.

The way forward is together, not over the bodies of our own.

Zohran Mamdani has won the New York City mayoral race. Mamdani will be the first Muslim and first person of South Asian descent to serve as the city’s mayor. At 34 years old, he would also be the youngest mayor to run City Hall in modern history. nymag.com/intelligence...

a girl in a pink sweater is raising her arms in the air while standing in front of a group of people . Alt: A little girl in a pink sweater, wearing some tinsel around her neck and on her head decoratively, is raising her arms in the air while standing in front of a group of people. They are all cheering but she is clearly screaming hard and loud. She picks up a decorative platter full of ornaments on the table next to her and throws it on the ground, screaming louder. The people behind her look vaguely concerned at her intensity.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue this week, alongside multiple other phenomenal team members.

At our Summit, I was asked how it felt to be 1 of 2 Black women left and what that meant for representation. Now, there are no Black women at Teen Vogue and that is incredibly painful to think about.

Re: municipal elections, I hope all my NYC friends vote Zohran. Not only cause he has an inspiring vision for the city, but also to serve notice to all cities (and the DNC) that having a platform to garner actual support - not merely to stave off an opponent - is the move forward.

"y not candy?" because when I was TRT age, most memorable house was the house handing out claw-machine plushies, not the candy houses. Candy gets eaten. Claw-machine plushy is forever. Coolest house. Want to be that house. Someday!!! #halloween
