These Ray Carney novels by Colson Whitehead are so unbelievably excellent. They're like classic gritty detective stories but about a furniture store owner in Harlem in the 60s-70s. Pepper is one of the great all-time badass characters of the genre. Can't wait for the 80s!

the movie SANCTUARY was made for sickos, and i am one of those sickos. Margaret Qualley is inspired lunacy and Christopher Abbott is sublime, and the whole film hangs on their electric, perverse chemistry. it’s unhinged and funny and surprisingly sweet, and i couldn’t be more here for it.
