Tony L. Barker, a top official with CBP, resigned in 2023 after being accused by multiple female employees of sexual harassment. Barker, who was the acting Chief of CBP's Operations Directorate, allegedly pressured female employees for sex and retaliated when his advances were rejected.

ICE deportation officer Blake Northway of Oregon was sentenced to 25 years in prison on sodomy and incest charges for sexually abusing an underage female relative for more than nine years, between March 2009 and September 2018.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer Luis Uribe was indicted in Dec 2025 on 11 counts. He committed multiple “gunpoint sexual assaults” and robberies of women in the Chicago area, who offered him money and referenced their children as they begged him to stop. Uribe preyed on sex workers.

John Daly III, a Border Patrol Agent from Arizona, a/k/a the East Valley Serial Rapist, was charged in 2021 with at least seven rapes across multiple Phoenix suburbs from 1999 to 2001. Authorities seized 279 guns from Daly’s house when they arrested him. The true number of victims is still unknown.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent Harry Marvelle Peless III, 51, of Newport, MI, was arrested in Jul 2025 after messaging an undercover agent posing as a 13-year-old girl.

Marvelle sent obscene material to and made requests for sexual activity to the person he believed was an underage girl.

To date, Defendant Smithson has not been charged with any crime, and remains free to work in a position of authority on the United States border, despite confessing to the sexual assault. 20. Following the assault, Defendant IPD failed to submit Detective Orff s case to the District Attorney's Office for over 100 days. This failure on the part of IPD was the result of actions by Defendant Miguel Colon, Chief of Defendant IPD, who made an active effort to interfere with the case. 21. Shortly after the sexual assault, Chief Colon called Detective Orff's boss at the Brawley Police Department, and gave him the details of Orff's sexual assault. During his conversation with Orff's boss, Chief Colon also accused Orff of being immoral because of her sexual orientation. He further blamed Orff for being victimized. In disclosing details about the assault that Detective Orff suffered, Chief Colon violated Detective Orff's rights under the California Constitution, which grants the victim of a crime the right to "be treated with fairness and respect for his or her privacy and dignity, and to be free from intimidation, harassment, and abuse throughout the criminal or juvenile justice process." Cal. Const. art. I, § 28(b)(1). 22. On or about May 16, 2016, Detective Orffs wife, Detective Kristol, 24 contacted IPD to get an explanation as to why Detective Orff's case had not been 25 submitted to the District Attorney. In response, Chief Colon contacted Detective 26 Kristol's boss, and began to divulge details of Detective Orff's assault to him and to 27 attack Detective Orff's character and fitness as an officer.

Border Patrol Agent Andrew Smithson of San Diego was arrested in 2016 after sexually assaulting Brawley Police Det. Kali Orff.

Orff woke up to find Smithson had pulled her pants down and was sexually assaulting her. She punched him in the face and called 911. Smithson was protected by local police.
