I don't know if it's tautological. I think there is actual content to the claim that Jesus is offering a way of life that is so radically different and superior that everybody ought to follow him. I personally don't agree - I sort of don't see the appeal.

no i'm not asking that. I'm asking whether if Buddhism is true, and everything lacks an essence, including Buddhism, whether something that is just part of a chain of co-conditioned causes that includes some traditional Buddhist ones, can claim to be Buddhism.

it's kind of ironic that the USA got all highly individualistic supposedly to protect our rights from the government and then we turned around and gave them all up to private parties, and are ending up with less freedom than we started with. It's like Hegelian or something.

I would like to mention, not that you don't know it, that these people are shallow hustlers with no interest or knowledge of anything they appeal to. Ask this guy to write a seven page paper comparing a roman thinker like Cicero to an Athenian thinker like Plato. If he ever completed it, you'd weep.

I enjoy the mystics and the poets of mystical longing, but part of me wants to make fun of myself for my enjoyment of them. maybe that's bad. i dunno. Maybe I should just enjoy what I enjoy.
