What is the enforcement plan for the new legislation?

This is where we are now: A city in Northern California isnβt just making homelessness illegalβitβs criminalizing those who *help* people living on the street.
Under a new ordinance, βaiding or abettingβ an encampment would be a misdemeanor, punishable by a $1,000 fine and up to six months in jail.
Who dies in a Horror movie- political
Who lives- political
Who is the main character -political
Who is the sidekick- political
How are certain characters portrayed - political
What you show (and what you hide) - political
A reminder that fiction β books, film, games, what have you β is always political. The willful absence of βpoliticsβ in any work is itself a political choice and a political act. Who gets to tell (and sell) stories is political. It might be an undercurrent β covert, not overt. But itβs there.

26.01.2025 00:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Reasons to Live Through the Apocalypse Sunrises. People you have still to meet and laugh with. Songs about love, peace, anger, and revolution. Walks in the woods. The smile you exchange with a stranger when you experience beauty accidentally together. Butterflies. Seeing your grandparents again. The moon in all her forms, whether half or full. Dogs. Birthdays and half-birthdays. That feeling of floating in love. Watching birds eat from bird feeders. The waves of happiness that follow the end of sadness. Brown eyes. Watching a boat cross an empty sea. Sunsets. Dipping your feet in the river. Balconies. Cake. The wind in your face when you roll the car window down on an open highway. Falling asleep to the sound of a steady heartbeat. Warm cups of tea on cold days. Hugs. Night skies. Art museums. Books filled with everything you do not yet know. Long conversations. Long-lost friends. Poetry.
I wrote this on one of the darkest days of my life. It gave me an anchor to hold onto.

We are in a horrible reboot of Reconstruction. Fight in every way possible. Flood those anti DEI tiplines with misinformation, spend 10 minutes every day telling your reps to stop this

In the 80s and 90s the prayers of the people included those with AIDS and those who give them care. My church welcomed trans and queer congregants in the 80s.
There were some clues is all I'm saying.

this mischaracterization and willful ignorance of an entire genre is how you normalize book bans.
