Excited to share our new Nature study! ๐Ÿงฌ

We (sidrituruci.bsky.social et al) discovered that CFAP20 helps clear stalled RNAPII, preventing harmful clashes with DNA replication machinery. This protects cells from R-loops and genome instability.

PhDone!

Last week, an incredible journey of 4.5 years came to an end when I defended my PhD at the LMU in Munich. I am tremendously grateful for all the fun moments throughout this chapter, full of learning and doing cool science.

Thrilled to see my postdoc work at Adelman Lab @hms-bcmp.bsky.social on Integrator(INT) now out @cp-cell.bsky.social. We found that INT deficiency allows immature+unlicensed RNAPII to precociously enter genes. This immature RNAPII can transcribe short genes but terminates prematurely in long genes:
