In the CultCast this week, @dgriffinjones.bsky.social discussed lanyards potentially coming to iPhone (via a case), and Apple's history with lanyards. Here, from my extensive iPod collection, is the original iPod shuffle and nano with lanyards.

I can't stop looking at this Enterprise bridge set. Its design so perfectly fits between the TOS and TNG aesthetics. I love it.

@gruber.foo Someone in Apple still supports customizability. Check out .sidebarAdaptable in iPadOS. It’s fully user-customisable including dragging items to the tab bar at the top. Very much like Mac OS X toolbars.

@gruber.foo β€œAlan Dye is a graphic designer for fashion brands, not a UI designer” is a kind of agism. It presupposes we speciate at the age of 20 and any subsequent switch in direction is invalid. He has more UI experience than most 30-something UI specialists.

Most experts acknowledge that a takeover by artificial intelligence is coming for the video game industry within the next five years, and executives have already started preparing to restructure their companies in anticipation.
After all, it was one of the first sectors to deploy A.I. programming in the 1980s, with the four ghosts who chase Pac-Man each responding differently to the player's real-time movements.

This is an insane thing to write about game development. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/28/a...

The amount of gender essentialism in this discourse is blowing my mind. Different people like different bodies types. Some people like lean muscle, others don't. There's no one answer to "what women/men want."

Saying "this isn't the female gaze, it's the male gaze" is really just swapping one form of gender essentialism for another. This is not the own you think it is.

imo there's a lot of over-thinking on this topic. This is the "gaze" of anyone who likes muscles. Doesn't need to be gendered one way or the other.

A List of Other 'Andor' Actors Who Should've Got Emmy Nominations Today Forest Whitaker and Alan Tudyk were recognized, but we think a few other 'Star Wars' actors also deserved accolades.

All of this. And especially Genevieve O’Reilly for Mon Mothma and Stellan SkarsgΓ₯rd for Luthen. Amazing performances.

This VFX Breakdown for 'Andor' Season 2 Showcases the Power of Practical Locations Watch how the blend of digital effects and real sets makes 'Star Wars' come to life.

The layering of real locations with matts looks amazing, but it becomes a problem when the locations are so recognisable. I kept thinking "Oh, there's the Barbican! Isn't that the Guildhall? Wait, that's Monserrat!" It takes you out of the action.
