The 1.3M figure is an underestimate. “It does not include the massive number of deaths expected from the broader effects of climate change, such as droughts, floods, wars, vector-borne diseases, hurricanes, wildfires and reduced crop yields.”

Hard to think about these numbers, which are "only" deaths directly from heat—not from floods, fires wars & the other consequences of climate change (and are, of course, estimates and projections)

But the math works 2 ways: If you add emissions, you cause deaths. If you reduce them, you save lives.
