I cringe to think of all the articles and headlines I wrote over my journalism career that contained phrases like “autistic man,” “blind woman” or “handicapped child.” In my defence, times were different when I graduated J-school.

I believe 50,000 is the approximate number of visitors Midland gets for the festival each year. The number of butter tarts sold is more like 300,000.
And, for the record, no to raisins, but yes to pecans.

The narrative that we are being sold that our children's safety is somehow threatened by trans people participating in all aspects of public life as their authentic selves is the exact same bullshit that was peddled about queer folks 30 years ago. It was a lie then and it's a lie now.
