Menzies Campbell, 1941-2025, in white on a black background, with Ming's sombre Parliamentary portrait picture in the centre, and the party logo in white at the bottom.
Ming Campbell was one of the most influential Lib Dems of the last few decades - his opposition to the Iraq War inspired a whole generation of Lib Dems to join, and his allyship on LGBT+ matters was always both strong, and appreciated.
He was also remarkably kind. We will miss him.
Now of course, I lied, I have done a full conference round up already, I was just too lazy to transpose it here. See below for my full round up on LinkedIn below!

Twice in two conferences I have stood up defending our digital rights, and I really appreciate the opportunity given to me by @libstemm.bsky.social , @victoria-collins.bsky.social & @ulyssea.bsky.social by supporting me at each stepβ¦

25.09.2025 19:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Late #LDConf follow up but very pleased to have spoke on the importance of the space sector as a key growth area that shows the immediate applications of emerging and novel technologies and ensuring the operational independence of the @ukspaceagency.bsky.social following Labourβs plansβ¦

We are overtaking the Conservatives and on the cusp of overtaking Labour too.
More and more people are backing the Liberal Democrats to stand up to Reform and stop Trumpβs America becoming Farageβs Britain.
The Express asked us about awarding the Patsy Carlton Prize to Cllr Chris Northwood. We responded:
"This prize acknowledged an exceptional woman in Cllr Chris Northwood. The message it sends to women members and voters is that the Liberal Democrats honour and value all of our women members."
Finally, I am officially a formal candidate for @libdems.org.uk Federal Policy Committee- manifesto will follow on here and on Facebook, I will push the party to develop policy that is credible and addresses problems young people face are certainly what I want to see
20.09.2025 18:32 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Also pleased to announce @liberalreform.bsky.social and @youngliberalsuk.bsky.social emergency motion on the OSA has been selected by members for debate on Tuesday morning. Huge opportunity to make a statement that the OSA implementation is not working and the party is willing to ensure it does
20.09.2025 18:32 β π 2 π 2 π¬ 2 π 0Very pleased to have summate this amendment today at #LDConf , and seeing this, the other two amendments and the motion as a whole passed with an overwhelming vote in favour! Thanks again to the work and supportfrom @libstemm.bsky.social βs Chair, Chris Lomax
20.09.2025 18:32 β π 9 π 2 π¬ 1 π 1LibSTEMM proposed policy passed! LibDem policy now includes employee organisations, learned societies and trades unions to be harnessed in adult skills provision.

Text to Amendment One of F11: Opportunity for All, reading: '...in conjunction with existing learned societies and institutions, trade unions, employee organisations or collectives with a responsibility for training and continued professional development of their members.'
Pleased to announce that Iβll be summating @libstemm.bsky.socialβs amendment to the Opportunity and Skills Paper this Saturday at #LDConf ! This strengthens the ability to pool training resources by recognising the role of unions, societies & institutions in continued personal development.

11.08.2025 14:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Wikipedia isnβt going to be the authority on everythingβ¦ the citation in that part of the article doesnβt call it a stealth tax - you donβt notice VAT day to day but you can and do notice a rise in VAT when it happens, the private school VAT rise is noticeable as a bit more than ordinary rises
11.08.2025 14:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Itβs not a stealth tax, no one serious would think it is, and the 2011 rise was not stealthy lmao.
VAT is progressive for people over their lifetimes practically no matter the country (not that single tax progressivity matters vs overall tax and redistribution system)
VAT is not a stealth tax??? Itβs also broadly a flat tax, well slightly progressive in the UKβs case
11.08.2025 13:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Welcome to the party!
19.07.2025 07:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There has been a lot of speculation over the past 24 hours regarding my removal as the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Women and Equalities and Scotland. I can now confirm I have been removed from that position, and have shared my response below.

Alt text: A graphic map showing England's best local authority areas for starting a business. Highest is Guildford with 9.14 out of 10. Second equal are West Oxfordshire and Stratford-on-Avon with 8.98. Sixth is Vale of White Horse with 8.57. All of these scores are higher than the highest score in London, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. (Image and analysis credit: Utility Bidder)
Oxfordshire has two of the top ten places to start a new business in the UK, according to analysis by Utility Bidder. West Oxfordshire came 2nd for its high business survival rate and fast broadband, and Vale of White Horse was 6th, out of 400 Local Authorities.
28.05.2025 16:04 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 1 π 1This by @jonnelledge.bsky.social is great at explaining why empty homes arenβt the solution to the housing supply crisis.
(And far better than the part written piece I have in my drafts, which I can now delete).
Some good stuff on lions too.

@lauragordon.bsky.social was probably one of the first Lib Dems I had a chance to speak to when I started uni, before I even joined the party. Great to see her elected nearby in Kidlington!
