Heartbreaking finish this morning. Team Canada left everything on the ice in an incredible gold medal game. Across Courtenay–Alberni and Vancouver Island, people were up early cheering together. Thank you to every player who wore the maple leaf with pride. You inspired us all.

Yes, that is what I’m getting at. I fully support any woman’s right to do whatever she chooses. Full stop. No one else gets a say. That said, the world has gone through awful times in the past and we still had families. What’s different today?

Fair enough, but for me, it still begs the question of “why?” The phenomenon seems to be widespread around the world, from authoritarian regimes to social democratic countries, rich and poor. It’s puzzling that a species would voluntarily seek extinction.

If this country was truly “pro-life,” we would have Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, gun reform, universal child care, and a living wage.

The right-wing agenda isn’t about “life.”

It’s about control.
