What we are living through is the PEAK of "drained pool politics"

Drained pool politics is the termination or defunding of public resources due to the will of one group, whether they also use the resource or not.

Think the end of public pools nationwide b/c white people refused to integrate

Seems obvious, but it’s true, a lot of problems in the comics industry would be fixed by having more comics readers. IMO not enough current adults read comics to sustain the kind of industry we’d like to exist. However I’m more optimistic about the numbers of *future* adults who’ll be comics readers

Yeah, it’s so hard to watch this unfolding and feel like all guardrails have been removed. Trying to stay connected to the ppl in my life that matter and “build community,” but it’s exhausting.

I struggle with agoraphobia too (even though my kids force me to be out in the world.) You’re not alone! And I hope things get easier for you.

Having young kids now, as we head back into the 1800s is terrifying. Same for aging parents. Hard to feel hopeful these days. 😞

Re: Diddy being acquitted on sex trafficking charges, one of the reasons the MeToo backlash has been so effective is because the court system enables a commentary class to say the absence of a guilty verdict means that women and victims are liars. In reality it’s incredibly hard and rare to convict

RFK Jr. is now taking COVID19 vaccines away from people who are pregnant. Infection during pregnancy increases the risk severe disease and potentially preterm birth.

The CDC itself lists pregnancy as a condition that puts people at risk for severe disease. The science doesn’t support this.

I rewatched it a few years ago and the later seasons in particular are wild!

Moderna withdraws application for COVID-flu combination vaccine Moderna said on Wednesday it has withdrawn an application seeking approval for its flu and COVID combination vaccine candidate after discussions with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

This is absolutely terrible news.

With the shifting regulatory climate (i.e., antivax ratfuckery), Moderna has withdrawn their application for their eagerly anticipated COVID-flu combo vaccine. This vaccine offered better protection than getting each shot separately.
