06.11.2025 23:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The future being pushed by both AI boosters and educational censors is one where access to information is tightly controlled. Children will not be allowed to read certain books or learn certain narratives. βResearchβ will be performed only through one of a select few artificial intelligence tools owned by AI giants which are uniformly aligned behind the Trump administration and which have gone to the ends of the earth to prevent their black box machines from spitting out βwokeβ answers lest they catch the ire of the administration. School boards and library boards, forced to comply with increasingly restrictive laws, funding cuts, and the threat of being defunded entirely, leap at the chance to be considered forward looking by embracing AI tools, or apply for grants from government groups like the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), which is increasingly giving out grants specifically to AI projects.
Once you start thinking of AI as a war on humanity, on human thought, on human inquiry, on human labor, on nuance and critical thinking, it slots in pretty seamlessly with the right wing ideological project, oligarchical political projects, big tech's political projects, etc
06.11.2025 16:48 β π 863 π 335 π¬ 12 π 18The single biggest question in American law today is:
Are lies a get-out-of-laws-free card? Can the government simply lie to grant itself new powers? And is everyone else under an obligation to act as if obvious lies are true, or at minimum, that they might have merit and deserve respect?

Remember when Republicans drew Virginia's Congressional map so Black people were packed into one district and said we should be grateful they gave our community this district. NOW they can have one district and see how much they love it.
Virginia state Senator Louise Lucas (a Democrat who is the chamber's president pro tempore) just tweeted this:

As @esmestallard.bsky.social explains, once PFAS is in water, it's incredibly difficult to remove, which is why many say prevention is better than cure.

Last night, the National Guard chased children who were out enjoying Halloween in Navy Yard.
There is no valid reason for armed soldiers to terrorize children like this. End Trumpβs occupation of DC. National Guard out NOW.
I really can't emphasize enough that OpenAI is, as Dr. Gilliard has described in the past, a social arsonist enabling racism, and I urge colleagues in education using OpenAI's products - including ed-tech platforms that incorporate its products like Khanmigo and MagicSchool - to stop.

Every county would have its own small, around-the-clock team of contractors collecting immigrants from local authorities deputized by ICE. It is a subtle transfer of the physical custody process into the hands of a private security firmβauthorized to carry firearms and perform transport duties βin any and all local, county, state, and ICE locations.β
NEW: ICE is planning to build a shadow deportation network in Texas. A proposal outlines a 24/7 transport operation run by armed contractorsβturning Texas into the logistical backbone of an industrialized deportation machine.
