A Decade of Reporting on Violence Solutions
Donna Ladd writes about rejecting βsensational, episodic, bleeds-it-leads crime coverageβ in favor of solutions.
SOLUTIONS: "Please know that participants choose crime prevention as one of the discussion tops of nearly every solutions circle we do, and next weekβs Greenwood circle will be no different," Donna Ladd writes.

We can create justifications for any actions we want to. We can justify doing nothing even. At the end of the day, we'll have to choose an effective path and be able to discern the difference.

Its the distinction between what I call the "development imperative" that we see across Asia in counties like China and Pakistan vs the dominance of the market imperative that drives policy in the industrialized western nations. The latter model simply can't keep up.

Gloster Biomass Plant Continues Push to Increase Emissions
Mississippi regulators are revisiting an earlier decision to deny new permits for Draxβs Gloster, Mississippi, facility at an Oct. 14 public meeting.
In the last decade, Europe has embraced biomass energy as a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels, and wood pellet production has surged across the U.S. to meet demand.
But in towns with biomass plants like 75% Black Gloster, Mississippi, residents fear it's harming their health and air quality.

Not only... his claim to the prize was for forcing victims of genocide to accept a "peace" in which they were blamed for their own genocide as a condition for stopping the genocide while shielding the actual perpetrators from any accountability.

Cajun have made a lot of money selling Creole food, renamed as Cajun and erasing Black people from the history of Louisiana cuisine... the French never used seasonings like we do. When did the Cajun start, except after they learned it from us...

The "peace" plan is first in history where the victims of genocide are held responsible for their own genocide. Perpetrators of crimes against humanity face no sanction or reprimand. Are not required to provide justice or restitution. Palestinians must again prove they don't deserve to be killed

Though Israel and its allies have derided Palestinian resistance groups for holding hostages in Gaza, Israel itself is holding thousands of Palestinian hostages, both dead and alive, in its own prisons.
At least 250 Palestinian bodies have not been returned to their families.

We're missing an opportunity to place democratic reform more firmly in this conversation.
Each of those local rallies should be demanding local democratic reforms
We undermine authoritarianism, by showing "what democracy can look like".

Israel drives Palestinian women into daily negotiations with dignity
Women have become the front-line managers of scarcity. Yet their suffering is often erased by Western policy and humanitarian discourse
βThe market that emerges under siege is not a sign of resilienceβit is a system of predation born of deliberate policy.β
As Israelβs blockade drives Palestinians into daily negotiations with their dignity, women have become the front-line managers of scarcity, Mariam Mohammed Al-Khateeb writes.
