Another Monday following a weekend of deadly and devastating shootings in this country. But the thing giving me hope are the many many people working so hard every single day across sectors and disciplines to prevent this violence. Grateful for every person in this work and in this fight.

What feels like forever ago, I made a starter pack of gun violence prevention activists. Today felt like a good day to dust it off again.

Wednesday's Weather Rating: 10/10

I am at a loss for words. For the first time ever, five straight days with a perfect rating. And it's just like the rest - sunny with high temperatures in the upper 70s, low dew points and a breeze. The vibes are STILL immaculate!!

First malaria treatment for newborn babies approved for use Malaria caused 597,000 deaths worldwide in 2023, with children under 5 accounting for 76 percent of all malaria deaths in the World Health Organization’s Africa region.

A small piece of good news in #publichealth today: in addition to malaria vaccines for kids age 5 month+, we now have malaria TREATMENT for babies!

(Of course, we also have to pay for the treatment & make it accessible. But I will take any joy I can find.)

Good example of data used to criminalize immigrants even when it argues the opposite. Undocumented immigrants make up 3% of the US population but 0.008% of those arrested (2/264). The article suggests they are criminals (and worse) despite providing a much lower population rate of criminality.
