a BOLD CLAIM!
Fascinating conversation.
Halfway through, my brain is still spinning round the idea that life, (or code,) that copy's itself, is more stable.
So evolution of complex life, may be said to obey the second law of thermodynamics.
What do you think?

This made me think actually, what if we all collectively agreed, for just one day, not to use social media.
Just to see if we could personally as much as anything.
To gauge how dependent we had become.
Say, Jan 1st is The Day.
When lots of people have resolutions to examine and most are off work.
What a brilliant lady and inspiring to see not just talk of how terrible everything is, but genuine pushback πͺπ½ππ½

This was very accessible and REALLY interesting from a historical perspective.

How old is the old Holloway from the straights of Dover, past Stonehenge, to seaton?
Why Seaton?
Unless that route led to a now submerged land route, to seal hunting as the sea ice wasn't far off the NW coast of Ireland? πΊ
I suspect the route, is older than Britain being an island.

There is a key moral distinction between immigration policy on new arrivals, no matter how draconian, and on people who have already been granted status, on set conditions. It is about being a country that keeps its word. If we're not that, we might as well fucking give up now.

Recalling the Harroway, and the last continental connection at dover, I was wondering why all the traffic went through Stonehenge, but then on to Seaton ... now I'm wondering about seal-fur.π€
βHarvard geneticist David Reich said β¦ increasingly sophisticated analysis of genetic material made possible by technological advances shows that virtually everyone came from somewhere else, and everyoneβs genetic background shows a mix from different waves of migration that washed over the globe.β

For about a year now, Thiel has been publicly laying out his understanding of biblical prophecies and the potential for the rapid advance of technology to bring about an apocalyptic future. In a lecture Monday, he encouraged an audience to continue working toward scientific progress, whether in AI or other forms of technology. Fearing or regulating it, or opposing technological progress, would hasten the coming of the Antichrist, Thiel said, according to people who attended.
New argument against AI regulation just dropped. Checkmate, atheists.

If there's anything that Guernsey should be famous for, it's tax avoidance and money laundering by international criminals.
It's going back many years so it's just my recollection that the rulings, once someone had said that was the court of justice they ascribed to, that the government would enforce whatever ruling was made.
I'm not comfortable with that, if it's indeed true.
that once someone had agreed to sign up to the courts ruling, it was legally enforced by the UK government.
I might well be wrong but, If I am right, I'm not comfortable with different laws applying to different people unless they are completely, completely voluntarily, ascribed to the rulings.
