Clint Twedt-Ball, Democratic candidate for Congress in Iowa’s 2nd District, is reporting over $200,000 raised with 90% coming from Iowans since announcing in July.
He has accomplished much as a pastor and nonprofit leader, and is new to politics. I think that‘s what voters are looking for.

I am grateful for the one-third inch of rain yesterday - we need more - but Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has now had an extraordinary 28 days in a row with temperatures above average.
Today will be close to average, but is forecast to be number 29.

Trump’s hatred for renewables means the US is falling behind the rest of the world
As well as embracing ‘beautiful coal’, the president has set about obliterating clean energy projects
Trump is hurting our economy. “In the first half of the year, spooked businesses closed or downscaled more than $22 billion in clean energy projects, costing more than 16,000 jobs, most of them in Republican-held districts.”

I highly recommend this show. On Tuesday, October 7, it will show at 7 pm at the Music Hill Studios, 1509 Rainbow Drive, in Waterloo. Especially good for people with an interest in the law, labor movement, civil rights, criminal justice, science (evolution), and theater.

Less than one inch of rain in Cedar Rapids since August 16.
Please conserve water and energy, prioritize young trees, and take action to help us stop the buildup of climate pollution.

So far today, October 4, the high has been 85 and the low has been 64 in Cedar Rapids. (Average high is 67, average low is 45.)

Tomorrow marks three months since the Texas floods that ravaged Camp Mystic and killed 27 campers and 119 people overall.
I agree with Avery Haynes who wrote the article I shared. Government should work on disaster prevention and preparedness just like it does police and fire protection.

Just counted it up. Cedar Rapids has been above average for 23 days in a row - extraordinary - and mostly quite a bit above average.
Normal high for October 2: 68
Today: 86
Average low for October 2: 45
Today: 56

With a high of 85 and a low of 56, which is where we stand as of 4:00 pm, Cedar Rapids would be 14 degrees above average on October 2. (Average high is 68 and average low is 45.)

Climate change: global temperature
Earth's surface temperature has risen about 2 degrees Fahrenheit since the start of the NOAA record in 1850. It may seem like a small change, but it's a tremendous increase in stored heat.
“Earth’s temperature has risen by an average of 0.11° Fahrenheit per decade since 1850, or about 2° F in total. The rate of warming since 1982 is more than three times as fast: 0.36° F per decade.”
Global heating is accelerating.

Already do and it will get significantly worse until we take much more significant action.
Unconscionable that the current administration and its party are so actively hostile to climate science and climate solutions.

October 1 we were 11.5 degrees above average in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
For September as a whole we finished 4 degrees above average.
We have still had less than an inch of rain since August 16.

Another disappointment from Iowa’s congressional delegation (Grassley, Ernst, Hinson, Feenstra, Nunn, and Miller-Meeks) to shut down the government.
No sign of negotiation - actually giving something to the other side - to keep it operating.
But the sun still rises!

I am still bothered that ICE chose to make a show of police action instead of just telling the Des Moines Schools that Dr. Roberts was not eligible to work (if that is true). Wastes money and endangers people.
