I can’t think of a less responsible branch when it comes to spending money on shit they actually need. And it’s been this way for decades. Pathetic.

Can anecdotally confirm the torture popularity note, really not cool just how widespread the belief that torture is a justified, useful, and necessary tool is.

Notice that Cuba is also colored in, along with Venezuela. The implications there are pretty frigging dark.

I believe it was 30K for *almost*-covert action.

Not implying this would be superior to an actual analysis, just one of the only question sets I’ve seen when an LLM would actually be capable of providing a still useful datapoint through its usage.

Potentially fastest way to get a gut check would be 2 LLMs trained on each corpus separately and then asking them the same prompts and noting how similar the outputs are.

Would the larger base of β€œlegitimacy” of one mode of violence over the other be the main distinguishing characteristic? One represents a single person thinking they can make a violent threat, the other is a government with millions of people behind it.

Pathetic and weak from Secretary Collins.

A man who clearly doesn’t understand and doesn’t have the capacity to embody the leadership veterans rightly expect.

This is not how our community responds when one of our own is murdered.

I get what you’re going for here, but it’s got a lot of baseline assumptions baked into it that I don’t think people are as confident about as they used to be (only ICE agents for example, he’s gutted basically all career federal law enforcement leadership, Patel’s FBI exists, etc)

25.01.2026 17:30 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I expect every single law enforcement officer of any kind to be willing to die rather than risk killing a person unnecessarily.

Anyone who does not like that tradeoff should not seek to carry a gun on behalf of the government.

It's really that simple.

It’s a worse thought when you realize if things actually get bad enough to necessitate it then the number of outside actors stepping in to try and shape the outcome to their benefit will make the syrian civil war outside involvement seem simplistic in hindsight.

A reminder to the news media: β€œconflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

30% of the Trumpist legal movement would get hamstrung if Congress passed a law mandating that no judicial division could have only a single judge in it.

(TLDR: would backfeed from outside receptacles a portable dollar bank for a deck. Problem: I’m not aware of any A/GFCI backfeedable breakers common anywhere at the moment. But that’s a whole separate code thing.)

16.01.2026 23:25 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I don’t disagree, it just has felt like for a while that the code is a ratchet that only goes one direction. Have you seen the pitch for patio solar yet because that’s a crazy one? That would make a good video since it’s a cool concept, but will be a nightmare to make breakers for.

The main reason is that for safety standards the default assumption is that it has to be safely operable by the vast majority of people, and just because you know not throw the microwave, air conditioner, and laundry machines on while charging doesn’t mean the average person does.

Main breakerless options do exist, even if they aren’t common. We have some Main Lug only residential products.

I’m not saying he didn’t accomplish anything, but I am saying it sure didn’t take long at all for the military leadership to fall into line behind a series of unlawful uses of force and now whatever the hell this 18th century imperialism thing is. So he might as well not have done anything…
