It boggles me. The writer is the core of what makes a film work or not. There is simply no salvaging a bad script, and yet so little time and effort goes into learning how to identify and promote good writing because execs are lazy useless asses.

tldr, it's not writers. studio execs are greedy, know nothing leeches who wouldn't know how to make money if it bit them in the ass. imagine throwing away a sequel to crazy rich asians over less than 4 percent of the projected gross. are you fucking kidding me.

Been ages since I read the series but gods do I love the movie so much (And the subsequent show for everything amazing they did with it)
