It boggles me. The writer is the core of what makes a film work or not. There is simply no salvaging a bad script, and yet so little time and effort goes into learning how to identify and promote good writing because execs are lazy useless asses.

tldr, it's not writers. studio execs are greedy, know nothing leeches who wouldn't know how to make money if it bit them in the ass. imagine throwing away a sequel to crazy rich asians over less than 4 percent of the projected gross. are you fucking kidding me.

Yay for late night ramble thoughts! This has been a fun thread to read. And fun to briefly think on the diff between being a 2018 Uma fan in the 2025 era versus becoming a Gear fan in the 3 years post-XV era.

Still ecstatic I made the XV Live somehow, thanks to COVID of all things buying me time.

There's a rush when you get someone to join your smaller club that isn't there anymore when /everyone loves it/.

So in a weird way I am happy Gear has never truly broken containment in the west. I adore it with every fiber of my being, but I also adore how its...a special little fandom, kinda.

This was me back in February '22. 3-someting years later and I'm still shilling it to everyone I meet, though also kind of glad S1 exists as a sort of...filter?

Like, for comparison, I like how Uma has blown up. But something has changed with it no longer being niche, and I kinda miss that.
