I think The Cabin In The Woods was an important cultural pivot—the nihilistic ending was surprising but satisfying, because it crystallized a simmering reaction to a then-dominant narrative. 14 years later, that's become the choice we expect, to the point where it's hard even to see it as a twist.

I think the correct number for this is 5–7 BUT each issue usually only has 2–4 of them active. Generally the pattern for episodic stories in late era Young Justice, or where Streets of Gotham seemed to be going.

I think a lot about how one of the standard descriptions we give elementary school kids of slavery is "working and not getting paid," which in the relevant context (American chattel slavery) is not untrue but is wrong on a fundamental level in terms of conveying what we're talking about.

On the other hand, some lifestyle D/s types I know would find this very recognizable.
