Without exaggeration, this would be devastating for NASA science. There is still some iteration with Congress to be done, but from the outside it seems Congress are compliant with so much else it feels hard to be hopeful 🧪🔭

This is still yet to be confirmed, but a 2/3rds cut to the NASA astrophysics budget would be absurdly bad.

We as a community will have to fight this SO hard if we want NASA to keep existing as a telescope operator 🔭

This news is devastating, and it’s not good when you’re hoping our spineless Congress will stand up to it as our hope that some of it gets reversed.
