Fiction sales for the year in UK are approaching £149m spread across 17m books (+8% and +3%, respectively, vs 2024), still the highest year-to-date value on record and the highest volume since 2011.

-it takes a huge amount of effort to write effortless prose
-it takes a long time & lots of failure to get lucky
-those who have had success learn how to survive success by writing through it
-writing isn’t a choice
