Loving that the main character is frustratingly reckless but her righteous anger is easy to get behind. This is a really easy and fun read, and almost everyone is brown! There are queer characters as well! #booksky

Current read: Weavers of Alamaxa by Hadeer Elsbai, the second installment in the Alamaxa duology, set in a fantasy world based on Egypt. Weaving is like bending in the ATLA universe, and weavers (along w women) are an oppressed group fighting for their right to exist.

My first read of 2025 was My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante and it was fucking phenomenal. I loved the slice of life in 1940s Italy, the complex characters, and the narrator’s childish perspective. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series! #booksky
