RIP to Peter David. Truly a monumental writer whose impact lives on. Hulk, X-Factor, Spider-Man 2099, Captain Marvel, and X-Factor again is a run most people could only dream of. Wishing the best to his wife and family.

Seconding the Demon Bear Saga and Headmaster Magneto arcs. Love them both. As a warning though, the series becomes a bit of a mixed bag once Louise Simonson takes over with issue 55. You get some important arcs like Inferno and everything with Cypher, but it's couched between some absolute nonsense.

You get hints towards deeper layers during Claremont's New Mutants run, but most of her development is under future writers' pens. Lobdell makes big changes during his runs on Uncanny X-Men and Generation X, and imo, Morrison and Whedon are the ones to set her girlbossiness in stone.

Haven't read that run, but I've heard it's good! I like the CotU because they're basically what would happen if people from TIME's Most Influential list quit their jobs & started having Fantastic 4 adventures together. The original run hasn't aged perfectly, but there's a lot of good Kirby action.

yeah not a part of the punch out fandom but they are kind of spitting. his turtleneck look from punch out wii especially hits that balance between like toned and sensitive. it's hot!

no fair! it can be hard to pick up something your favorite works are iterating on (the doom patrol did come before the x-men but morrison's doom patrol was very much in response to claremont). still, i think x-men is best at balancing large scale political commentary and slowburn character drama

No, you're 100% correct! Despite having a literal genre named after it, Metroid still feels so underrated. The fact that it hasn't had a game break 4 million sales is nuts to me given how consistently high quality and innovative it is.
