This plein air was so fun to paint! It is a view from a ranch in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, during an Oil Painters of America (OPA) event a few years ago. Such a beautiful area. I'll be back this Summer for Art in the Park!

When aspen leaves flutter in the wind they are said to be 'quaking', thus the term 'quakies'. This painting was inspired by a Fall drive to Nederland Colorado, near Caribou Ranch where so much amazing music was created.

Pencil portraits are how I began in art and still a beloved medium. This well-known pianist couple from the Aspen Music Festival signed this sketch for me during one of their Summer concerts. I treasure it.
