How much longer can Holy Mike keep the House out of session? Heard he might be waiting for a TN election in December with the rationale being that if the R won it would cancel out Grijalva, but that doesn’t make sense because that person won’t necessarily affect the outcome of a vote on Epstein.

Waking up a bit more optimistic about the US-Tuesday, November 4, 2025 was a good day.

Layoffs Already Higher Than for Any Full Year Since 2020 Announced US job cuts by quarter

It’s been harder than normal to get a grasp on the US labor market lately, with several agencies that produce key economic data, including the Bureau of Labor Statistics, going dark during the government shutdown. Even before that, President Donald Trump’s efforts to downsize the US government left holes in the sprawling federal statistical system. But private datasets have helped fill in some of the gaps.

A report from outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas showed almost 950,000 US job cuts this year through September, the highest year-to-date total since 2020β€”and that was before the heavy October run of announcements. (Excluding that first year of the Covid-19 pandemic, US job cuts in the first nine months have already surpassed full-year layoffs for every year since 2009.) When something is almost the worst since the Great Recession, North says, β€œthat’s not a very encouraging number.”

Congrats to everyone who put Republicans in charge "for the economy," the first three quarters of 2025 already had more layoffs than any of the years in which Biden or Obama was President except 2009 (when Dems were still cleaning up the prior Republican mess).

So let me get this straight. If someone on Food Stamps isn't working, they need to get off their ass and get a job. If someone on Food Stamps IS working, they are defrauding the system and need to be kicked off. Is that how it works?

We are seeing not just a merging of different parts of the armed forces; we are also seeing a deprofessionalization. Competent people are fired. Those willing to break the law are hired. Normal practices are abandoned as the new force becomes more responsive to the demand for quotas & brutalization.

State-Level Impact of NOT renewing ACA Subsidies:

We also produced economic estimates for each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia, shown in Exhibit 1. Following are some highlights:

Losses will be higher in states where more residents are enrolled in an ACA marketplace plan. The 10 states with the most projected jobs lost are:
        Texas: 83,400
        Florida: 57,500
        Georgia: 33,600
        California: 20,300
        South Carolina: 13,100
        Tennessee: 12,300
        Alabama: 9,100
        Louisiana: 7,000
        North Carolina: 6,900
        Mississippi: 6,700.

NOT extending ACA subsidies will ALSO cause state economies to PLUMMET $41B.

339,100 jobs will be LOST due to health care providers being FORCED to reduce their workforces. 50% of job LOSSES will be health care–related & HIGHER in states where MORE residents are enrolled in an ACA marketplace plan.

NEVER FORGET: In July 2025, the GOP passed the BBB with $75B in additional, multi-year funding to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

BUT the GOP Congress will NOT negotiate to EXTEND ACA Subsidies for 20M+ Americans for $32B. #GOPPriorities
