Teachers in Virginia were paid just 2/3rds of what their peers in other professions made between 2019 and 2024. That's the 5th worst pay penalty in the country. We can do better. #FundOurSchools

Interesting article; thanks for posting it. If someone asked me this question, I'd say it depends. 1st, I think generalizing is unhelpful. Some gay men are doing a LOT. Some are not. I see more queer cis women fighting for trans people's rights, overall. 1/2

Important new feature in Amsterdam, since I last visited (and lived here): Memorials where holocaust victims lived. They also make me think how appropriate it'd be if 'missing' signs were posted in the US, where people have been abducted by unidentified masked goons, along with their stories.

I don't really believe there's such a thing as "too smart", but I do think her intelligence could, hmmm, create some interesting challenges for your household! As an example, my cat Ricky could get into my kitchen trash can that had a foot- operated lid...

I believe this to my core. They're using trans people as a test case to dismantle individual rights in the US.

Over the last several months, Members of Congress have used increasingly derogatory anti-trans language, and now, 2 Members are calling for trans people to be institutionalized.

Speaker Johnson & GOP leadership must reign in these extremist Members & put a stop to this rhetoric.

If people actually bother to read the reports they'd learn this:

The immediate and completely unwarranted threats against HBCUs (nowhere near Utah) today, should tell you everything you need to know about the kinds of "free speech" Charlie Kirk promoted.

This is fantastic news. I remember that story and others about the impact of the suspension of funding via PEPFAR. It was just so unnecessary and cruel. I'm so glad to hear the Zambian Govt is able to take this on.

Right, the idea that being a survivor of abuse or coming out of an addictive family somehow absolves a person of responsibility for murderous decisions (or even poor ones) carte blanche is absurd.
