So I've joined a new model railway club, and that means bodging together a motor and gearbox for testing :P

Honestly, I'd don't blame you, tbh I'd just want the MK1s as it's an extra UK coach type and also new british steam loco goes kinda hard, just a pity it's attached to a shitstain owned brand

Have a photo of the chassis with wheels in, need to fettle some more to get the rear baring in

Red all the way, but then again that's probably because I love a maroon-esque livery, see MR and LMS reds for what i like :P

Was going to post more about the chassis, printed fine but needed some slight adjustments so will need to hopefully print the "final" one soon, but something important has come up so he's on hiatus for now, but should be cracking on again soon.

IT BEGINS!

The thing is, miniaturists (also known as modellers) have made a job out of it since the first dolls houses became popular, but it kind of boomed with model railways and planes well over 100 years ago, frank hornby took German models and anglicised them and that's how Hornby Railways was born

Must admit I did wonder what happened, but yeah I'm still happy to do so :)

TMW you get the urge to go against the grain of your usual modelling and seriously want to start CAD/Blendering up some british prototypes for a plarail chassis or 2

Blame this thing for starting me down this thought path, also watching a load of plarail battle videos :S

I kind of like the idea rhat they are of duchess origin rather than something none british, especially since in TVS we have representations for the other 2 big streamlined classes, so a bathtub duchess pair in blue and maroon kind of fits more than anything else

They look fabulous, also they do give off a british wacky races vibes :D

never been truly happy with Thomb-O's running, so gonna get a 3D printable mesh sorted, as he deserves to run smoother, will also be doing a motor swap and possibly a new gearbox, just need to have a natter with some peoples about that

Aye i see what you mean, to be honest I'm just happy to have a nice looking TM2 style thombo, never liked the original much, but considering i grew up with OG 1992 Tomica World/plarail i don't think I can be blamed for my preferences :P

Honestly, I'd have to move the chassis forward somehow but I kinda dig it, way better than OG TM2

And they say toy story is fictional XD

on a serious note if it does have a chip in it and your running it on DC that could be the bother, or the socket PCB itself is faulty, or a connection somewhere is loose or broken

it was based off the TVS sheds of course, but also barrow hill roundhouse. It was a ton of fun to do!

I honestly don't know, I know the CD motor has worked and made it run like the later hornby version, so all is good now :)

I do regret trying to convert my 4f and hogwarts castle though, luckily HC should be easy enough to sort out but the 4f will need a new gearbox and motor in the loco itself now

Honestly I'd not put it past hornby at this point

Tbh I think I just got unlucky with the 42 I used, even after servicing it never ran great, would be sluggish to begin with and constantly needed warming up, clouded my judgement a bit I reckon

Already an improvement, and it'll be even better when the glue is dry and I can add more detail
