When he first came to Town in November 2023, we were flirting with relegation from the football league (again). At first, his style of play wasn’t working, but once he realised this, he changed systems and secured league status. Last season we nearly reached the play-offs.

Two weeks ago, the play-off in the fifth tier of English football drew over 50,000.

I love moderating! I know it’s an imperfect (and hugely expensive) system, but the STA training is very detailed. If only all Y6 teachers could access it (although the materials are usually available online somewhere). It’s a privilege to visit schools and read so much children’s writing.

We’re halfway through June, which means there’s only two weeks left of KS2 writing moderators (me included) going into schools and reading humdrum retellings of that animated short film Alma,searching in vain for any dialogue at all, let alone some that conveys character or advances the action.

A lad I went to school with was killed in Afghanistan. Pete Hegseth? I See A Fuckwit.
