Fairly shitty bank notes from 1993 to the euro. A yellow £5 with a nun on it and a school for blind children on the back, a green £10 with noted fart-addict James Joyce and a writer if his on he back, a weird purple and green £20 with Daniel O'Connell, the great liberator, and on the back his pledge not to accept blood money from slave owners in the US even for the cause of Irish emancipation (because obviously), President Dúbhglas de híde (Douglas Hyde) on the front of the bluish grey £50 with a piper on the back (de híde was instrumental, no pun intended, in preserving the Irish language and culture), and the uncommon red and blue and yellow (mawkish) £100 had Parnell on the front and back. All the notes are bilingual with some fairly crap typographic choices.

Irish bank notes from the 1970s to 1993. The £1 and the £5 have snippets from famous Irish manuscripts on the rear and drawings of Queen Maedhbh and Jennie Scotus Eriugena. The £1 is mostly green and the £5 is sort of beigy. The purple £10 is Johnathan Swift with a map of his contemporary Dublin on the back, the blue £20 is James Joyce on the front with a chart of the Blasket Islands on the back, and the goldy £50, which I never remember seeing in person, has Toirdealbhach Ua Cearbhalláin (Turlough O'Carolan), a famous harpist and composer, with musical instruments on the back. All the notes are bilingual with some chonky 70s typography and the lower denominations beautiful medieval Irish manuscripts.

These were the Irish ones, both pre-euro, and pre-pre-euro notes. The older ones were very large and you felt properly wealthy if you had £20. The post-1993 ones were...okay, I guess, if you like that sort of thing.

Pretty spot on I think. It’s by waist size, so if you’re not sure of that it might take a few tries to get it right. Depends on the style too. And some have no stretch which isn’t for me but they tend to be smaller.
