Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

And then she ordered a bunch of that bloodwork to get more information. She is way better than that asshat male endocrinologist I went to because I was referred to him and he wouldn’t believe me that I am not completely sedentary and maybe my systems are messed up. He can suck it.

I don’t think I have PCOS, I feel like it would have come up by now, but apparently what I know about it is if it’s a more intense version. I’m honestly just pleased to have a doc now who listened to my disparate symptoms and issues and was like “oh based on older bloodwork it could be related to Y”

I just got so much blood taken and maaaaybe we’ll find out if ya girl has borked hormone levels and T3! There’s also a question about PCOS cuz turns out if you go on birth control in middle school it’s super unlikely you’ll notice any signs for decades. Oops.

The nurse is amazing. He took my blood with minimal discomfort and he offered to help me shift to a different provider at the office. I found my own new person because I anticipate having to fight with insurance for coverage of this particular one but the offer was so kind.

Earlier today I went to see the endocrinologist my GP referred me to for a follow up and he remains an asshat. I talked to the nurse who took my blood about how, while I didn’t want to talk shit, he and I clearly dislike each other. Apparently this is a common response to this doc.

I know we’re in a dystopia where we’re privatizing everything that should just be a public good but maybe slow roll it more?
