A hastily sketched graph of programmer salaries on the X axis, and # of programmers on the Y axis, with two lines: a "before" distribution and an "after" distribution. The "before" distribution has a higher average salary, but there are less of them. The "after" distribution includes the entire "before" but is much larger, although with a lower average.
I wrote up some thoughts about the effect of AI on programmer salaries: seldo.com/posts/ai-eff...

Over the past few months, I've gotten about a half dozen offers to do interviews for remote jobs, after which a team of people would do the actual work and I would be paid 50% of the salary.
For someone trying to run a real remote company, it's infuriating.

I’m not giving money to Democratic incumbents unless there’s a plan and it isn’t the usual bullshit.

One of my biggest mental breakthroughs was when I changed my mindset from
"This system is stupid and I'm going to spend all my energy fighting it."
to
"Even though this system is stupid, I'm going to operate within it to my advantage."
Much better results, way less stress.

How I Automated My Job Application Process. (Part 1)
A developer automated job applications, sending 250 in 20 minutes using Python scripts and GPT
It feels like the technology arms race between candidates and recruiters is accelerating. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of companies (especially smaller ones) stop allowing direct applications and instead source 100% of candidates from warm intros.

Indie hacking has always been this way. Sharing what you’re building is great, but time spent posting about your MRR is time not spent talking to customers or building your product.
It’s all masturbatory. Just build.

I think I inadvertently followed the wrong people on here because my feed has been full of pro-murder “revolution” nonsense for days. Like there’s no amount of blocking or muting that can stop it. I keep waiting for it to burn off but it hasn’t happened yet.

if you're a tech journalist in the present climate, it's incumbent upon you to ask why big tech is pursuing dead ends like AI when they could just start using the number 2. ones and zeroes have taken us as far as they can. either chuck a few 2s in there or cede the future of tech to those who will

Finding founding engineers is hard. Really hard.
It’s tough to find someone with the combination of skill and appetite for risk, who also doesn’t want to try to start their own thing.
(For clarity, I’m offering at- or above-market comp in both salary and equity.)

Yeah, I’m not sure how sophisticated this survey was.
Anecdotally, lots of zoomers I’ve interacted with had very weird ideas about money, but then I’m not really close with any of them

instead of scolding young people into having kids, try telling them that someday a crying baby turns into an eight year old full of wonder, and you will get to see art (or baseball games, or video games, or whatever you love) anew through their huge excited eyes
