What if you made less money but the government taxed you more? Well that’s what’s happening with older apartment buildings in New York City right now.

Collective action and anger is the only way New York’s government will move to address the cost of housing.

Our office is aware of the delayed payments from NYCHA over the weekend.

NYCHA Statement:

Only 134 people have found a place to live out of 200,000 people on the waiting list for housing vouchers in New York City.

The system needs fixing.

If you are a renter you don't get a property tax bill, but you still pay.

If NYC is raising property taxes, they are raising your rents.

Did you know NYC has one of the lowest eviction rates in the country? But the current system leads to a high number of eviction filings, because all nonpayment disputes are funneled into the courts. An eviction diversion program could reduce displacement.

We just listened to Governor Hochul’s State of the State address.

While we heard a lot of proposals, we didn’t hear anything about property taxes, housing costs, vouchers and other important issues.
