Just tried Trepang2 on controller.
Gonna be honest, I'm not feeling it. A good example of M&KB focused title imo. I'll have to play it on the main pc at some point.

Bloke who likes East Asian politics and older videogames. Very tired. From UK but lives in Japan.

Kinda sad this was never fully finished, but good to see it finally out.
I remember seeing it first in an early issue of E1M1. Absolutely a stand out when in print due to the aesthetic.
Also, as a game it felt fresh. Less just some Quake clone. More like an Amiga title or the likes.
I'm more interested in this than any of those remasters or whatnot. I'm still somewhat sad that the original series was never fully finished before half the damn voice cast passed away.
13.02.2026 00:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Honestly, you only need something like a GTX1660 super or an RX580.
Play Dark Souls type stuff at 1080p 60hz. Become happy.
Folks keep repeating the "Say no to 8gb vram" meme, but are not taking into account that this deal on an 8gb gpu is still overpriced. It's just the market for anything with ram is overpriced now.
Until Sam Altman fails, the prices will continue to rise.
I'm going to add that this was the first game that raytracing really impressed me. Mostly because it is full of it, but nobody made a fuss about it being included. It was just looking at the cool effects and thinking "damn! That looks nice!" In stuff like Control I would just think "it's ok."

PS6 hopes to be out in 2029. Memory no longer exists, so it will be emulated via an AI.
The original Tomb Raider is tank controls to the core (heh, Core). Remove them and the game kinda breaks.
The new remasters? As soon as you turn on the analogue system, half the jumps become more complex. Tomb Raider was built around precise moves which demanded the digital inputs. Tank Tomb Raider.
Just finished the last Ratchet and Clank game.
I mostly got it as a test game for my new GPU.
It delivered.
I imagine if this even looked as half as good as it did on a 9070XT, on a PS5 it would be rather fantastic.
As a game? It was fine. Not too hard. Not too dull. A good romp, but not essential
The Original on Amiga.

It seems to have settled here.
I will note that the "some third-world shithole" comment is less my personal feeling and more the vibe I get from some folks. Just after uni I did a filler job and the Myanmar Rohingya issues were kicking off. I would look at it with interest. Workmates said it was "brown people being brown people."
08.02.2026 04:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You know how if you see things on the news about sectarian violence in Latin America or South-East Asia? For a lot of folks in places like the US or Europe it is just background noise from "some third-world shithole".
Equally, weird American problems in East Asia is just pointless background noise.
One thing I've noticed with the Epstein files news is how it is completely irrelevant and mostly ignored in Japan. I've seen some folks online go on about how the Japanese should pay attention and it is important.
Epstein is a foreign issue. It has no cultural meaning here.
I played this through on a controller and it was damn good.
Console users about to get something damn nice!
FUCK! Thunder outside.
Really, really loud thunder.
I've not heard snow thunder in about two decades!
It's snowing outside.
It rarely snows in Yokosuka.
For the first time of me living in Japan my toes feel uncomfortably cold. I've not had that feeling since I lived in Yorkshire.
I swear GoG and Radeon have the same decision makers:
- Market themselves as the underdog alternative. They are the good guys!
- Do some cool things that seem principled on paper.
- Make a fuss over a cool idea they will implement.
- Do something mind-blowingly stupid. Keep being stupid.
Oh shit! The world is gonna get some hyena girl cock???
Or have I just been online too much?
I do love how initially it just seems like a simple Catacomb / Wolfenstein like, but then by the end you have tons of weird abilities.
Then you notice there are classes for a second playthrough. Expands nicely, but never gets bloated.
Wizordum is reet good.

04.02.2026 02:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Upscaleing (both DLSS and FSR) is sort of the keeping in why AI is not 100% awful. It's oddly where a lot of the current AI boom came from. Just something of a shame that "we can make your picture run at higher resolutions at less power and stress" became "let's steal art and burn power like crazy!"

Goes with how I advise GPUs right now:
Windows only = Nvidia
Experimenting with / going full Linux = AMD
Imagining Trump discussing 4chan posting with Vance in Deus Ex models. Meanwhile, Epstein and some MiBs awkwardly run around a prison cell while the following music plays.

Also, this is where I sort of realised that I'm no longer a PC masterrace elite. I now prefer using controllers as I sit in my comfy chair, stressed out by work. I just want to amuse myself, less do gitting gud.
With that in mind, I view Cultic to be on par with Boltgun for cool controller games.
Cultic on controller finished.
I'm changing my tune with this. To say it is a spiritual successor of Blood is somewhat degrading now. This is equally Blood, Resident Evil, Half-Life (really) and mapping like a shit load of Doom custom maps.
Cultic is absolutely its own thing. Unique and brilliant!
Cartoon meme dude shrugging.
*looks at that High Guard thing because people are making a fuss over it*
*not compatible with Linux*
Well, that answers that for me.
