Northern Europe relies on exploiting the Global south. Its not sustainable. If your privileges come at the expense of other people's well being, your society is doomed to collapse.

There is a repeated historical precedent for this. Liberal parties in nations that saw fascism rise ended up siding with the fascists over the actual antifascist left.

This was made abundantly clear in the two election seasons of 2016 and 2020 when the democrstic party did more to oppose a leftist than they did to address the material conditions fascism used as issues to gain popularity. Fascism is faux populist.
