Reminder that Francesca Albanese is not being targeted for a sentence twisted and lifted out of context in a speech.

She is being targeted for daring to name the names of giant companies complicit in the crime of genocide.

They would rather destroy international law than be accountable to it.

Grumpy from Disney's Snow White and the 7 dwarves.

Let's talk about "grumpy lab person". Many labs have them. With an eye to keeping science at its most rigorous, they cross the line into criticism that's too harsh. They are the ones who risk killing your scientific spirit. They are reviewer 2. /1

Venezuela must return the land that is Venezuelan land, and the oil that lies under Venezuelan land, to its rightful owner, the United States.

Otherwise, we have no option but to take the land and oil (which again, belongs to us and not to Venezuela).

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

We love to fetishize "top" researchers and give them special big pots of money. But we get far more science by spreading money among all researchers (closer to the NSERC DG model). This old post is magically relevant again... scientistseessquirrel.wordpress.com/2015/05/12/w...

Gazan students bound for Canada remain trapped in administrative limbo More than 130 Gazan students are pleading with Canada to grant visas so they can attend universities that have already offered them full scholarships. Some visa applications have been pending for more...

Let in these incredible students from Gaza:

www.france24.com/en/middle-ea...

This administration ignores its own faculty members pleading for our admitted students to be allowed to leave Gaza and come to Canada. We need their talents, their perseverance. They are the very best of the academy.

Been talking to many postdocs in Canada on the job market right now. There is a consensus on a feeling of betrayal that the system does not value the Canadian postdoctoral training. It has been explicitly known for long enough that Canada favors US-based scientists but now that's explicit.

Investigating individual-specific topographic organization has traditionally been a resource-intensive and time-consuming process. But what if we could map visual cortex organization in thousands of brains? Here we offer the community with a toolbox that can do just that! tinyurl.com/deepretinotopy

Yes, that exists in all fields yet it does not stop journals from at least having an "opt-in" to show identities. If that is such a problem, there is a deeper rot within the community that needs to be fixed then.

Well... The authors names do appear after the paper is not accepted so that's easy to know... I agree with anonymity during the process but after all decisions have been made, that signals that the reviewer does not have faith in their review

01.12.2025 13:19 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I think it is also time to question the anonymity of reviewers beyond the review period. There are many bad reviews that hide behind that.

Canadian universities need to respect their job applicants more...
Looking into my faculty job application, I found that Canadian universities ghosted me over 70% of the time in comparison to about 31% for European universities
