I attended the first #ffconf in 2009, and back today after a 10 year absence. It’s definitely 16! (And I feel old now)

There is a sitcom trope where a male protagonist completely changes some aspect of their identity to attract a woman, and all other characters and the audience see them as completely ridiculous and insincere, but the protagonist is blind to the ridicule.

I find a mindset shift in training from “I am training to get faster” to “I am training to make it feel easier” helps. You’re not trying to run 100 miles, just to keep banking as many easy miles as you can.

Realised that I’m now treating funny viral videos in the same way footballers celebrate goals —

1) initial joy,
2 sudden panic it might be AI/offside
3) lengthy investigation as joy saps away
4) conclusion, joy modulated through fatigue if proven legit/onside, but angry and gutted if AI/offside
